A practice may say it needs more leads.
That may be true.
But before spending more money generating them, I would want to know what happens after a prospective client raises a hand.
How quickly is the telephone answered?
How long does it take to return a call?
Is scheduling easy?
Does the intake process make sense?
Does the prospective client understand what happens next?
Are handoffs between people smooth?
Does anyone follow up when the prospect goes quiet?
Advertising can bring more people to the front door.
It cannot make a difficult front door easier to enter.
I saw versions of this when I worked with small-business owners on advertising, and again later in operations and sales.
Sometimes the business needed more visibility.
Sometimes it needed to stop losing the opportunities it already had.
Those are very different problems.
I would rather diagnose the right one before increasing the marketing budget.
